Just In Time

It's been 10 days since I posted last and I've been extremely busy, I have 5 more Christmas cards too make to hit my total and would love to get them done before I go to bed tonight. I was just taking some time out and catching up on some blogs when I realized that I hadn't submitted my entry for the Cute Card Thursday blog challenge. I've had the card made since Saturday and thought I would get it in before the challenge closes.

The card was made using the sketch on the blog and I chose an image from Pollycraft which I colored with Pro Markers. I also used stickles on the wings and white glitter on the hat and snowballs to give added sparkle.

I have 1 more post to go and then I'd better get back to it.

Next Challenge

Here is my second card that I am entering into the below challenges,

All Sorts Challenge Blog
- Week 78 - A Sketch 4U
The ABC Challenge - H is for Holidays

The image is from Pollycraft, I colored the image with Pro Markers and added white glitter to the hat trim and the bobble. This post is going to be short and sweet as I have housework to do before I can get back to making more cards.

It's Challenge Time

I've spent the weekend working on Christmas cards again!!! I have managed to find 5 challenges to enter though which is well worth it.

The image for my first card is from Pollycraft they have some gorgeous digi stamps and last week I just had to treat myself to some, I coloured this cute bear in using Pro Markers and as I didn't have card stock or paper in just the right shade of green to match the Pro Marker color I used the pro marker on some scrap card and also around my scalloped circle. The challenges I am entering this card into are below,

Sketch Saturday - Week #129 - Sketch
Cute Card Thursday - Challenge 138 - Anything Goes!
Stamp Something - DIGI DAY

Now it's onto my next post.

The wrong type of card

Just a quick post before I run out the door to go to work, I brought some lovely Christmas digi stamps from a site called Pollycraft on Sunday and I was having a play with them last night. I managed to color two of them images in (pictured below) but I noticed the pro marker in spread a bit, it's not that noticeable until you look really closely. I've never had that happen to me before and the only thing I can think is that I'm using a different card stock.

Unfortunately there are 4 shops in town that I have brought card from in the past, 1 of them I can rule out as it's what I used last night. Today I have the mission to go and buy card from each shop and then test them all tonight. Even with the slight spreading of the colours I do like how they turned out.

My First Easel Card

I know that I've gone into blog posting overdrive today as it's my 3rd post of the day but I couldn't help but share my very first easel card. I've seen lots of lovely looking easel cards and I always thought they were complicated to make but as I was looking over some videos on You Tube I came across a few tutorials and decided it was about time I knew how to make them.

I was so surprised when the tutorials made it look really easy and I just had to go into my craft room and give one a go myself. It's not the finished article as I still need to add some more decoration to it but I wanted to share it anyway.

That's it for me tonight, I'm off for a shower and am going to settle down and get an early night.

On A Roll

This is the second post of the day and as I said earlier I have another card to share that I'm entering into another 2 challenges. I've decided to take a break for the rest of the afternoon and relax a little, plus I have a mound of washing up to do after lunch.

I managed to use up some old bits and pieces I've had laying around for the last few Christmases on this card, the image itself is probably 4 years old and the vellum paper around 2 years. A couple of weeks ago I thought I was going to run out of Christmas stuff so I went through my whole stash and pulled out everything and I had a lot more than I thought, some I forgot I had.

The 2 challenges I am entering the card into are -

Cute Card Thursday - Gently Does It!
Alphabet Challenge Blog - B For Birds

So now I am off to enjoy a nice relaxing evening,

Finally some cards

I've just found a spare couple of minutes before I head back upstairs to my craft room to make more Christmas cards, so I thought I would use the opportunity to post a couple of pictures of a couple of cards I made that I remembered to photograph.

I know I have been rather lapsed over the last month at posting and entering challenges and I do feel really guilty about it but give me another 3 weeks and I should have more time on my hands.

After doing the maths this morning I've calculated that I've now made 255 Christmas cards, it sounds a lot but 180 of them are 18 sets of 10 cards, the rest are single's in various sizes. I would love to get that figure up to 300 so I have another 45 cards to go and 3 weeks to do it. As well as the cards I still have mini books to make so you can see why I've not had a lot of time.

Back to making cards now.

Quiet Month

I know that I've been really lapsed this month, between technical issues with my computer, making cards for the fair and work there hasn't been a lot of time to post.

I've been working on more Christmas cards today, getting a little fed up of Christmas to be honest and it's still 2 month away. This afternoon I baked a chicken and mushroom pie, which I'm just re-heating as the hubby was busy when I had my piece. I thought I would take the opportunity to post an update on what I've been up to and also to take a look at challenge blogs to see what I can enter. Hopefully I'll have some pictures to post tomorrow I just have to make some time to get logged in.

Technical Issues

Well I finally managed to get on to post, feels like it's been forever. I've been having some major IT issues with my desktop PC at home where is keeps switching off without warning after few minutes so I've been without it. Today I've managed to get the laptop connected to the broadband and thought I would take the opportunity to write a quick post.

As I said it is going to be really quick as I have to get dinner in the oven and I want to get into my craft room. The only good thing about the PC not working is I've been able to spend more time crafting.

Will hopefully post later with a picture or two.

Make Your Own - Challenge

I finally managed to get a challenge card made tonight for the Cute Card Thursday Blog, the challenge this week is to make your own embellishments and not use shop bought ones. As I am concentrating on Christmas cards at the moment I decided to make it Christmas themed and kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

If I can manage to give all my challenge cards a Christmas theme it might just mean I can actually enter some challenges over the next few weeks and still be working on cards for the fair. Today's card is a couple of really cute decoupaged penguins, the image was from the pcCrafter site. I have to hold my hands up though and admit that the coloring isn't my own, images come in both color and black and white and I printed the image over a year ago before I discovered Pro Markers.

For the hand made embellishment I used my Wizard and my new snowflake dies which I brought last week, I cut the snowflakes using a pale blue vellum and held them together with a white brad.

As it's now getting late I'm going to head off to bed.

Mini Book

As I said in my last post I made a mini book today, I've made some before but could never find a really easy way to do them that I was happy with until now. I used an A5 envelope and sealed it and then cut it in half to make the pages, I did this to 4 envelopes but put a half of 1 aside for my next book. I fitted a piece of thin chipboard into the pockets of 2 envelopes and then covered them and the 5 half envelopes I inked the edges of and then covered them with paper. After punching 3 holes down one side straight through the covers and pages I used eyelets in each hole as I wanted the mini book to be sturdy and last.

Luckily my spacing was pretty much spot on and the O rings went on really easily. I also made 5 tags to fit into the envelope pockets with a tab on each one so you can pull it out easier. I'm really pleased how it came out and am going to make a few more using different colours just as soon as I get more glue.

Running out of......Glue!!!!

As the title of this post suggests I ran out of glue today, right before I was going to concentrate on doing a couple of challenge cards my glue stick came to the end and wouldn't you know it I hadn't got another. With it being 4pm on a Sunday there was nowhere open to buy another so I've had an easy night tonight and watched a couple of films instead, before I head off to bed I thought I should at least post the things I have made before I ran out.

Hopefully I haven't got many more Forever Friends Christmas cards to make now, my pile of decoupage is slowly going down, plus I am running out of ideas for designs. After these were finished I started work on a mini book as I need some for the fair.

I'll post about the mini book separately as this is going to get very long

Happy It's Friday

I'm really happy that it's now Friday, even if I still have to go to bed and go to work later it just means the weekend is that much closer. When I posted on Wednesday I said I was going to make more cards, and I did but by the time I finished up it was 1am and I went to bed without posting. I thought I would post them now and then post pictures of cards I made tonight.

As in my last post all of my cards today are for Christmas and they are all Forever Friends. I'm really enjoying making these as it's a welcome break from my card sets which I'm going to try and finish this weekend

As for me I'm now off to bed.

Stress Relief !!!

I've had such a stressful day at work so I was so happy to get home relax and make some cards, I have managed to make 2 tonight and after this I am heading back to my craft room to make more. I've been concentrating on making my sets of Christmas cards which is getting a little monotonous so I decided to have a change tonight.

Staying on the Christmas theme I've been working on using up of my Forever Friends decoupage that I have accumulated over the last 2 years, for reason I've ended up with 4 packs just Christmas related so I'm going to use it all up to make some space for new things.

Both cards are brown Kraft cards which I have to get more of because I really love the look of them, I used papers from the Forever Friends Christmas paper pack and just kept is as simple as possible. Hopefully I'll have another 2 to post later before I head to bed.

Back To Work

It's Sunday evening and I'm back to work tomorrow, it doesn't seem 5 minutes ago since I started my 2 week holiday. I'm trying not to think about the fact that I have no holiday left now until next year as it makes me feel really sad.

I've been so busy in the last 2 weeks, firstly with sorting the house and doing some redecorating with the hubby and secondly trying desperately to make cards for the fair. I still have tons to do and am going to have to fit it in after work and the weekends. I know in my last post I said I was going to hopefully enter a challenge, well that never happened.

I do however have a picture of a card I made tonight for my brother in laws son, Ben who is 13 next week. I'm not that great with boys/mens cards but I found a cute stamp set at my local craft shop yesterday with a football theme and knew that it would be perfect. The set was made by Stamp-IT and has 3 images and 2 sentiments on the sheet. The backing paper I used was from a Forever Friends paper pad and I used red card for the layering as Ben is a Liverpool FC supporter. I used Pro Markers to color the image in and a glitter gel pen for the stars.

So now I have my post done I'm heading to bed, I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be a long day, especially since I'm working right through until 6pm.

New Christmas Cards

I thought I would grab 5 minutes quickly to post as it's been a week since I last did. I've only left my craft room to sleep in the last 7 days and I still have so much to do in the next 8 or so weeks before the fair. I made a set of lovely Christmas cards yesterday which I'm really happy with, the picture below doesn't do them justice.

Each card measures around 9cm square and has a different Christmas image which has been hand coloured by me using Pro Markers and decoupaged into 3 layers. I put a lot of work into them and now have to repeat it as I would like a few sets to sell.

As it's Thursday in the morning I think I'm going to take some time out and try and enter at least 1 challenge, right now I'm off to bed.

Tweet and a Flutter!!!

Back for my third post of today, my second of tonight, I have another challenge card which I am entering into the Cute Card Thursday Challenge Blog. The theme this week is birds or butterflies.

I wanted to keep my card simple and chose my favourite color scheme of pink and brown. I started with a die cut bird from my Spellbinder Wizard in pink and worked my design around that. You can't tell from the photo but the scalloped circle is raised off the card so it looks like the bird is set back within the card. This is one of the few cards I make where I haven't used a stamped image which is strange for me as I love to stamp.

Colours of Autumn

The first challenge card I have made tonight is for the Colors Of Autumn challenge over at Allsorts Challenge Blog. I took my inspiration from my back garden which is looking rather bare at the moment, although I still have leaves on the tree's which are green it won't be long now before I have a carpet of brown and red on the ground.

I used a stamp from C.C. Designs, it hasn't got a lot to do with autumn I know but I started coloring the image in weeks ago but only got as far as her hair. I was going through a faze of using burnt orange and coral colours which I thought was perfect. The flower is a Spellbinders die which pieces together, before I took the pieces out I inked it in brown.

Onto my second post.

My Birthday Cupcakes

I was hoping to do some cards tonight but instead I spent the whole evening baking, I've not long finished up and thought that I would share some pictures of my efforts.

And what has all the effort been for.....well it's my birthday today (Friday) and It's customary to take cakes into the office (Personally I think other people should buy me cakes but I can't argue with tradition)

In all I baked 60 cup cakes but I only decorated around 50 of them. unfortunately trying to bake when you can only half focus you end up with a few over cooked cakes, and no I wasn't enjoying a birthday drink, the frames on my glasses broke. The ones above I am taking to work and the rest are for the hubby to take to his work.

Fingers crossed I can get my glasses fixed before I start work so when i get home I can see to make some cards.

First Video Tutorial

I spent the whole of yesterday making Christmas cards and then today i wanted to put together a video of how I'm making them. I don't have a really good camera at the moment so I decided to make a slide show type video and use on screen instructions rather me trying to narrate it.

I hope that it's ok and worth watching, as it's my first one I'm unsure if the instructions are to long or not.

Please leave comments and let me know if the video was any good, I hope to find time to make more soon.

Hoppy Birthday

I've just spent the last 40 minutes before I head off to bed making a card that I get to enter into 4 challenges. The card is almost 95% digital with just the card base and the first 2 layers being from my regular stash.

The rose garden and the rabbit were from a digital kit that I purchased from pcCrafter, they have some amazing collections of digital images and most come in both pre coloured and black and white. I decoupaged the roses to make them stand out but left the bunny flat as I thought it would be to much. The challenges I'm entering are below.

Donnas Den Of Craft - Challenge 6 - Lots of Layers

The Sweet Stop - Sketch SSS71

The Sniffles

I knew I had a cold coming on Thursday and sitting in the office on Friday was horrid as my throat and chest hurt so much, now that's gone and my cold has gone up to my head and sinuses. I've spent most of today nursing a headache and blowing my nose every 5 seconds.

I did have a few periods today where I wasn't feeling so bad and I went into my craft room, unfortunately these didn't last long but I did put together a front cover to a cook book that I am making for the fair.

Everything on the front is covered in a coat of Mod Podge as I think the texture helps to age it, I used a stamped image of Tanya Baking by Belles 'n Whistles coloured in Pro Markers. The main green backing paper was from K & Company's 'Roam' paper pad.

I'm hoping to go and get started on the back cover now, hopefully it won't take so long.

No Punches or Wizard Arrrrgghhhh!!!

I decided to enter the Cute Card Thursday challenge tonight although i have to admit it was torture. There challenge this week is to create a card but not use any punches or cutting machines. I thought it would be a breeze as I have my Wizard for less than 2 months, but no it was hard to fight off the temptation not to use it.

In the end I came up with the below card, all the cutting has been done by hand or with my trimmer, even the envelope was made with a template and cut by hand. When I do a DL sized card I always like to make my own envelope using the same pattern/coloured paper.

I used a stamp with one of my favourite animals on it, just wish that I had a memory like an elephant as I can't remember who made the stamp, but it came in a square of 4 smaller squares each with a darling elephant. After I made it I sealed it up ready to put with the other 120 for the fair and then realized I forgot to take a photo, thats why there is a little bit of shine to the card because I took it through the cellophane bag.

Now I have to go wrap another parcel for ebay and then I'm turning in for the night, I'm coming down with a cold so the more rest the better.

Always Something

There is always something to keep me busy so far this week and it hasn't been crafting, to be honest I haven't minded a few days off but I know that if I'm ever to be ready for the fair in November I have to get a move on, only trouble is I'm very quickly running out of Christmas paper.

I tried my local craft shop and they don't have anything in at the moment so I'm going to try and find some time this week or Saturday to take a trip to a shop that's not long opened out of town as they may have some. Thankfully I'm off work in a couple of weeks so I'll have plenty of time then to get stuff done.

Unfortunately there's no card tonight, maybe tomorrow I'll have some time to share one.

Sketch Saturday Challenge

As promised I'm back with a card to post, I made this a little earlier but have been asleep for the last couple of hours. Now I'm awake (barely) and thought I would post the card.

The card is being entered into the Sketch Saturday challenge, this week they have a really good sketch which really made me think about layout.

The card colours are all based around the image which was actually part of a prize from a Sketch Saturday challenge that I won back in July. The image is by Melissa Jenkins and is available through Whimsy Designs. I coloured the image in Pro Markers keeping the colours simple and then mirrored these colours in the papers. I also used the rose design in the center of the teacup and decoupaged it a few times to make the cute rose embellishments.

I wish I could say I'm off to make more cards, but I think I'm going to get another 40 winks.

Up All Night

As I forgot to post last night I thought I would post now before I head off to bed for a few hours sleep. I spent most of yesterday making Christmas cards, as my card turned up on Friday. Last night when I should have been crafting and entering a few challenges I spent the night putting some stuff on eBay as they have a free listing weekend I thought I would make the most of it.

I finally finished that up at around 3am and then instead of gettitng into bed I watched a couple of documentaries and then caught up on the X Factor, much as it pains me to admit that. I only really watch the auditions because they are so funny.

Unfortunately I don't have a card to post just yet but will be back later with a couple of challenge cards.

I thought I would post before I go to bed and show what I have been working on while I am waiting for my card to arrive (I'm pretty sure it's going ti be Saturday before it's delivered). So I had some extra Christmas pudding embellishments that I had made up for my Christmas cards and I was wondering what to use them for when I realized they would make really cute tags.

I've also done an extra five of the other embellishments and will eventually put them in packs of 10 for the fair, the other good thing is that there will now be matching cards and tags. Tonight I filled a box with the first of my goodies for the fair, I also went through all of the cards I have made in the last year and picked out all the ones I really liked and they have gone into the box. As long as I counted it right there should be 121 but this will grow as I'll be entering more challenges and added them to the box before November.

Out Of Card

I've been busy making Christmas cards for the last few evenings so haven't had anything really new to post, then last night I ran out of 240gsm card. I spent the whole of my lunch trying to find more in town and would you believe that there was not one place that had any. I've ordered some of eBay now but it's going to be the weekend before it arrives, guess that means a few days off from making cards which means challenge cards and more posts.

I started as I mean to go on today and made a card to enter into the Cards For Men Blog Challenge, the challenge this week is to make a card with decoupage on it and for it to be for a man/boy. I decided to go for a boys card and used a pirate decoupage sheet, not exactly sure who made the sheet and the paper is scraps. I had some pastel glitter paper which I used for a sand effect which I thought looked really fun.

As for me I've off to bed now, early start tomorrow.

Recipe Books

Firstly I know it's really late, or really early dependent on how you are looking at things. Before I head to bed I wanted to post about my new recipe book that I have been working on.

As I am doing a Fair in November I wanted to concentrate on Christmas as much as possible and came up with the idea for these small mini books with Christmas Cookie Recipes, there are 10 recipe;s in all. The main layout for the pages was all done digitally, I used a set of digital clipart that I got from pcCrafter and added the recipes on one side and the cooking instructions on another.

After I printed the pages out I cut them and fixed the front and back of each page together. To add a little dimension I added cute gingerbread man from the same set which I cut out separately, this meant that when I laminated each page it wasn't totally flat and was raised in places.

Once finished I put it into a plastic bag and tied it with a ribbon, all I need now is a gift tag which I have but forgot to print out. I love how it's turned out I just have to make a few more now and hope that there are lots of people at the fair that have sweet tooth's.

Shaped Cards

It's almost Friday, about 3 minutes to go and I guess that I should be heading for bed as I have to work tomorrow. Before I go I thought I would post a card I made yesterday, as I wasn't sleeping that well I decided to try something different and got my Craft Robo out and made the card below.

It took a while to get the pattern looking right but it cut really easily, I grabbed the nearest patterned paper to then cut the letters out and finished off the center of the flowers with brads. I do like the card but aren surte if I would go to all the effort again especially when I'm thinking of selling my Robo.

I hope to have some more photo's tomorrow night of something I've been working on since I got home today, also I have a busy weekend of crafting planned and I may even get to fit some challenge participation in.

I used paper from 'Forever Friends - Party Time' and the cat is a decoupage image from the 'NitWit Collections - Mee Wow' sheet, as my sister loves cats I thought this was purrrfect!!!

What I've Been Up To

As promised i said i would post about what I've been creating in the last few days, first I was making some sets of 'Colour You Own Cards' something I made when i did my last fair and they sold well. Basically all it is, is 2 cards with an image on each and a set of coloured markers, I love the idea and it's especially good for kids.

After finishing them off after work most of my evening has been spent coming up with a Christmas card design that is simple to make yet looks good and is easy to reproduce over and over again. As you can see from the picture I think I've finally cracked it, the good thing is all I have to do is swap the image and the patterned paper out and I have a totally different card.

That's all I have for now, I hope to get a few challenges done over the weekend between making Christmas cards that is.

Busy, Busy, Busy

I can't believe it's Wednesday night and I havent posted since Sunday, that's just terrible of me. I've been late out of the office every day this week and not sleeping very well so I am feeling pretty tired. On top of all that I still have to make my dad's birthday card before I go to bed as I need to get it in the post tomorrow.

If that wasn't enough I finally bit the bullet and decided to have a stall at one of my local Christmas craft fairs, it's not my first fair so I'm not totally in the dark but with less than 4 months to go I'm really up against it. I've spent yesterday and this evening so far working on something for the fair and hopefully one I have finished them tomorrow I will post a picture.

That's it for the post tonight though, still have lots to do.

Patterns

My second post of the day and my second challenge card, I have to be quick as the hubby is getting ready for work and I want to walk to town with him. I am entering my card into the One Stop Craft Challenge Blog, the challenge this week is patterns.

I went with a simple design using a striped backing paper from a Forever Friends - Just For Him' paper pack. The stamps came from the Papermania - Doodles set. I coloured the larger image with Pro Markers and then punched 8 small circles using my wizard. into each circle I stamped a smaller flower and placed these around the main image rather like a clock face.

He's almost done so I better run.

Hot And Spicy

I've finally got the chance to post today, had to wait for the hubby to wake up (As he's currently on night shift) and also had to have a card to post about. I only managed 2 cards today but the way I see it that's 2 more than yesterday. The first card I am posting about is being entered into 4 challenges which are listed below.

Sketch Saturday - Week 114 Sketch
Charisma Cardz - Challenge 30 Something with a tail
Colour Create - Challenge 50 Hot pink, Warm Orange and Saffron
C.R.A.F.T Challenge - Hot and spicey colours

The card fits all 4 challenges, as I already had the layout sorted all I had to do was make sure all the colours fitted and choose an image with a tail. I chose a cute dog stamp that I received free with a copy of 'Craft Stamper' magazine. I love this magazine as it's packed full of inspiration and you always get a free stamp to add to your collection. I coloured the image with Pro Markers and then went through my stash to find papers in hot and spicy colours.

Onward to my second post of the day

Guess The Paper

After enjoying making my last cupcake card that I made on Sunday I decided to make another tonight. Again I used a die cut cupcake from Dovecraft's 'Piece of Cake - Decoupage Pad', I'm not sure why but the cupcake reminded me of a Christmas pudding.

The paper I used is a mystery as I aren't sure who it's made by I vaguely remember buying it in a kit with some other double sided papers and I thought it may be 'Papermania' but I could be wrong as I googled it and didn't come up with anything. The background paper and the scallop are from the same sheet but are on opposite sides of the 12x12 and when I say paper it's more like thin card.

I loved the way that you can just see the bits of writing on the scalloped shaped paper, just by accident you can just see the words 'The first bite of stra..' which is very apt although I am guessing that it's a cherry on top of the cake and not a strawberry but I'm all for happy co-incidences.

That's it for tonight, if anyone knows who made the paper then please put me out of my misery and leave a comment telling me.

Cup Cakes

For my last card today I decided to enter the Fussy And Fancy Friday Challenge, This week there challenge is to use stitches, scallops and sparkle. As I'm always up for a challenge I set about making a card and ended up with the one below which I'm really pleased with.

To start with I decided to go with a die cut cupcake from Dovecraft's 'Piece of Cake - Decoupage Pad', I chose the pink and brown cake as I already had a backing paper in mind. I used a design from K & Co - Chocolate Neapolitan which worked perfectly. I managed to get 2 scalloped circles onto my card, mainly due to the fact that I needed to emphasis the scallop from the background, I used stitching in metallic thread on each segment of one scallop and painted the pink scallop with stickles and added a couple of gems in the center for the sparkle.
